In the News!

Sometimes I LOVE facebook. Right now, I am loving that for this diet there are hundreds of people doing one of the versions of Shred (there are two) and they are happy to share and dialogue about what has and hasn't worked for them. They share recipes, snack lists, and daily motivation. And of course answer the many questions that are asked daily. In this way, it reminds me of weight watchers. We aren't having daily meetings in a building, but we are getting together daily to share and encourage each other. Things like this make social media great. And this morning someone shared this gem and I'm sharing with you lovely people!

Just a reminder that the scale is not always your friend. Especially in the beginning, and again towards the end of the get fit and healthy journey! This scale only knows your weight! Not how hard you've worked, how much faster, stronger, and fitter you've become!

However things like This Article make me remember that some people are very irresponsible with social media. A NJ teen is suing her parents for financial support. Did she move out on her own? Or did they kick her out? Either way, why? Really the only people who know what happened are her and her parents. Even without all the facts, many people have very strong opinions about it. So what do they do? The go to the facebook search bar and come across This Facebook Page where a college student who also happens to be named Rachel Canning was running for USF Homecoming Queen. And the comments some of these adults left thinking they were messaging an 18 year old girl were astonishing. People telling her to kill herself, saying they hoped she'd get hit by a bus, actual death threats and lots of name calling. It is so sad that there are grown folks in this world who think it's acceptable to do this. And we wonder why children today have so many issues with bullying? But what does this USF student do? She makes it clear that she isn't the one they're looking for and posts a link To Her Walk For Autism Speaks Donation Page. She absolutely kept it classy. And I for one, think it's time to celebrate keeping it classy!
