Life update

I'd like to introduce you to my Granny and Papa. A few weeks ago the family was told that Papa had stopped eating and would probably not last much longer. Last Friday, he passed away. He was a good man. He loved us all very much. He was an Army man - tough and stern. He taught us to fish and way back then I decided I loved fishing - as long as I could throw what we caught back! I saw what Granny had to do to those fish so we could have them for dinner and I wasn't having any part of it. Granny and Papa have been married for around 40 years. Between them they have 12 children, well over 30 grands and around 20 great grands (and counting). He was laid to rest on this past Friday in Arizona. It was a graveside service and it was beautiful. When they presented Granny with the flag I don't think there was a dry eye. If you've never seen it - it's beautiful. And the pastor was wonderful, reminding us that it is important to grieve and to mourn for a time. And then it is important to keep living life. Because Papa has gone home, but while we are waiting to be called home, we have lives to live.
Rest in Peace Papa.

While I hate that the reason I went to AZ was for a funeral, I am so grateful that I was able to go. I love my family and miss being around them. And Saturday was the 50th birthday celebration of my youngest uncle! He had a great backyard BBQ. Eventually I'll get some pictures of this even up. But I've been trying to make it a point to be in the moment and not enjoying events through the lense of my phone. I had a wonderful time. AND got some Blue Bell!! Sister and I met up with my dad for brunch at Cracker Barrel and that was nice. It's been quite awhile since the 3 of us were together. And one of our favorite Aunts had an egg roll making lesson. I got to test out my cousins Mini Cooper S - I've decided I'd like one! Preferably a convertible in silver or white! And I got to see some of my cousins kids that I haven't seen since they were in diapers. And of course - there was the amazing weather! I have to say, I really miss the springtime weather. And how was the weather when I arrived back here - Glad you asked! It was snowing! There was snow on my car when we pulled up. I couldn't believe it. I was so happy I had the good sense to wear warm clothes for the flight back.

One Last Thing - We close on our house on April 18th. The inspection went very well. Only a few minor issues and the seller has agreed to take care of them. We are officially excited to be moving. We had been trying not to get our hopes too much. But we're now planning to move into our first place together that isn't an apartment. And that's pretty exciting. No more having to worry about people below us when we workout or wonder why the people above us sound like they're coming through the ceiling. Life in general, is very good.

Happy Monday Folks.
