Fifty Shades of Grey

I made it to the top of the list at the library and finally read Fifty Shades of Grey. Some people are calling it "Mommy Porn". I think the fact that it was written by a white woman and that its being widely read and discussed among white women is most of the reason for the big discussion. I've read erotica and some of it was as racy if not more than this book. But when an e-book gets that many downloads in such a short period of time, it makes sense that it would get tons of publicity. I suppose the difference between the women who read Zane novels and the women began reading  James' novels is that when Zane began publishing there was no way for us to read them in secret. We couldn't download them and pretend that we were reading something else. Something "safe". Now for my review of the book -
All in all I enjoyed it. I think the author could have used a thesaurus. But I suppose when having an orgasm there are only a few words that a woman would say... Anyways, I enjoyed that its clearly a fantasy book. The chances of these two getting together are seriously slim to none =)  If you've never heard of BDSM this will give some insight (according to the author she did some studying on the subject but hasn't herself been in a BDSM relationship) There is also an interesting love story. I'm looking forward to the remainder of the trilogy and seeing where this relationship goes and how much the characters change. The author is said to have been heavily influenced by the Twilight Saga. Some reviews on Amazon have suggested that this is a very similar story only adding in the BDSM stuff. (I haven't read the twilight saga so I know nothing about it) Now as for the more racy aspects of the book - I won't say I didn't like it. In fact, I enjoyed it. I am looking for my inner goddess :-) and while I'm not interested in having anyone dominate me, I want to be more assertive and my husband would like for me to be more assertive. We're married and as Bishop Walker once told us - its perfectly acceptable to be open to trying new things. Especially when it comes to pleasing your spouse and even if its in the bedroom. It could also mean be willing to go hiking, or try some weird new food.
Well that's more than enough for tonight and on this topic! This week has gotten off to an interesting start. I would love to say its been a good start but I'm not feeling particularly well and since yesterday my stomach has felt fluttery. So I'm eating less than I'd like in an attempt to not upset it too much. I think it was the burger I had... Oh well hopefully its better soon.
