Life is Precious

Every so often things happen that make you remember how truly precious life is. I spoke to a friend of mine today and she told me that one of her best friends was in a car accident a few weeks ago and is currently at The Shepard Center. The driver fell asleep at the wheel and ran into a utility pole. The friend - "Jane" has a broken neck, and doctors aren't yet sure the extent of her paralysis. Another friend's daughter is just 6 months old and battling Cancer, and my best friend's mother is undergoing a 2nd surgery after having a double mastectomy a few weeks ago. I have a cousin who as a result of contracting Valley Fever as a child just spent her 17th birthday in the ICU. And a cousin and a girlfriend who last year lost their babies mid pregnancy. 

Life is full of so much good. But I suppose this is what they mean when they say you take the good with the bad. Because in 2013 - The little girl battling Cancer was born and she is definitely making the world a better place. "Jane" married the love of her life and even though she may be paralyzed she and the others in the car are alive. My girlfriend's mom was in a place where she had not only the best of doctors, but she happened to be living with her daughter and family, and they are in a position to take care of her and support her through this. Bad things happen, sometimes things get worse before they get better. And sometimes, they don't get better. But life does go on. And hopefully the good things outweigh the bad things and we are able to continue living knowing that while things aren't always going to be sunshine and roses, life can and likely will be good again...
