Weekend Roundup

We had a wonderful weekend! On Saturday my mom flew in and we took her to Founding Farmers for brunch. She loved it and I had the best and biggest stack of pancakes I've seen! 3 cakes and they were the size of a large dinner plate, dusted with powdered sugar. I also had it with a side of mac n cheese (don't judge me :-) And oh my, I was in heaven! Husband had this stuffed french toast - Again I've not seen french toast like this ever I only wish we had pictures (why is it I never remember to take pictures of the food?) He said it was delicious and Mother had Chicken tenders and waffle w/scrambled eggs. She said it was so horrible she had to eat every bite just to be sure it was really that bad :-) Obviously joking! This is officially on the list of places to take our visitors to! So if you are ever in the DC Metro area it is an easy walk (5-7 min) from the subway even when the temp is below 20! The food is farm fresh and the service is really good! And if you are starving the servings are incredible and if you aren't that hungry you could easily share! After that we hopped back on the subway and took Mom to the Smithsonian American Art Museum before she headed back to the airport! Something to remember when you visit D.C., all the Smithsonian's are FREE!  And I've been to a few of them and have been impressed each time! That includes the Zoo! Then on Sunday we lounged around, I baked a cake - Chocolate w/cream cheese icing - for the Super Bowl party and we went to our friends place and watched the game. It was a good game, Ravens won which means I'll get to go to a Super Bowl Parade (I really enjoy parades!) And I enjoyed most of the commercials. My favorite was the Taco Bell one with the old people living it up! It was hilarious! And the halftime show was ok. I'm not a huge Beyonce fan, but it was a decent show! I had a great weekend! And now I'm off to plan this weeks menu and prep the food! Happy Monday!
