Baby for 3 days!

My sister and her husband took their 5 year old Alaina on a trip to Hawaii! *Jealous of the 5 year old!* And baby girl Alyssa (Lo) stayed behind with Grandma. But Grandma wasn't feeling so great after a few day and called Auntie (yep me!) to take the little one for a few days. So I flew to Atlanta on Sunday, they met me at my gate and Lo and I took the next flight back! Since she's under two she's a lap child. The flight attendants were great, even offered the guy seated in the middle an exit seat which gave us some extra room. Lo enjoyed playing with the seat belt. She was fascinated with how it worked! When it was time to take off, she hopped in my lap, proceeded to suck her thumb and before we were in the air she was sleep! (she's been flying since she was about 3 months old - very good flyer!) (It was pretty much the same thing when I took her back yesterday!)

Now, I've babysat the kids overnight before but at their house with their beds and their toys. And I don't think husband has ever changed a diaper and certainly he's never spent 3 days and nights with a little one! So it was a challenge and an adventure for us. She was so much fun! She's started potty training so it was pull ups and lots of time on the potty! And she's so playful. When Hubs came home, she was so excited to play with him! Like he's a jungle gym made just for her! We only had a few meltdowns - mostly in the kitchen when she wanted to be held and I was cooking. But over all it was a great 3 days! I do now understand the saying "Cleaning with kids in the house is like brushing your teeth while eating oreos."  She always wanted to help but clearly she isn't quite ready to help :-) Nap time was AWESOME! I could rest for a little bit and then clean up while she napped. And while having a full time kid around did make it clear that the relationship dynamics between husband and I will change, I look forward to it. And I know that when it's our child things will be different simply because it'll be our kid... I see these beautiful little girls my sister and her husband are raising and they are amazing. Smart, funny, loving little people. And it is such a blessing to be their Aunt!
Now my week gets back to normal! And I've already rested the morning away so time to get to it!

    1. It was so much fun! I love watching her come into her personality. She's so sweet and will talk your ear off if you let her!
