Since I've started working I was finding it difficult to workout when I got home. If traffic was really bad or if mom was late getting home I wouldn't get home until 6:30 or 7:00. And that's about time to make dinner, spend QT with the husband and get ready for bed. If I don't get at least 7.5-8hrs of sleep I'm super cranky and get headaches. So I've started getting up at 5:30 am to workout. And it is taking some time to get used to actually getting out of bed and doing something other than showering and making a quick breakfast for us both! Thankfully sausage and eggs or a smoothie doesn't take longer than 10 minutes to make!
I have been starting each day with a few rounds of Sun Salutations! This video is to get you up to doing 10 each morning. For me this is a great way to start the day. Gets the oxygen and blood flowing and gets me ready for a good workout. And if I'm still a little sore from the previous day's workout, it's a nice soft stretch! (bonus!)
On a regular day I'll do about a 30-45 min workout. This means I get out of bed the 1st time the alarm goes off! If I hit the snooze button, I do a shorter workout. I do my Sun Salutations and then follow it up with this workout by fitsugartv
This one is cross-fit without weights and only 10 minutes, but they also have a 10 min cross-fit one with weights and I really like that one as well!
If I have even less time there is always this 4 minute Tabata workout. Short sweet and to the point. I am usually breathless and break a little bit of a sweat doing this. If this is all I get to - I do another short workout when I get home. Even though according to the guy in the video this should be enough.
I have also incorporated a challenge that I found on Pinterest. It's a 30 day Squat and Abs challenge and I do it at the end of each workout! It doesn't take long but the exercises are effective especially when added to my regular routine.
I am trying to get more structure in my daily workouts. Right now I just kind of pick a workout for the day and go with it. But we have a cruise vacation coming up so I have about 8 weeks to get cruise/island ready! Husband would love to see me in a true two piece (not a tankini) and be comfortable enough in it to stroll around the beach. Thankfully I've been exercising and eating well for a while now. SO I'm just going to push a little harder. And I'm going to do a combination of Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred and her Riped in 30. I'm aiming to drop 1-2 lbs a week. I'm going to use My Fitness Pal to log my food and workouts. I really like the community on there. And the app is super easy to use. If you're on it add me - renise01.
Have a great week people!
i've heard of the JM 30-day shred and it's apparently really good...i may need to try that one....i started running again and that's been awesome...and i find mornings are better for me too...good luck on your fitness journey. i tried fitness pal and it didn't go so well...maybe i should give it another try!
ReplyDeleteRunning is something I'm thinking about. I need to find the BGR chapter out here! JM is pretty good. 20 min workouts using her 3-2-1 system. 3 min strength, 2 min cardio and 1 min abs. Constant moving. Great quick workout! I would see if your local library has it to try before you buy!
