Weekend Wrap Up

I had a great weekend! Friday after work I went home and husband and I hung out for a little bit and he went out to Poker Night with the guys! I stayed in, cooked some food for the weekend (who knew we wouldn't need it?? Dinner is ready for tonight!!) And relaxed, watching some tv and went to bed early! I woke up Saturday feeling quite refreshed. We had a nice breakfast and then we went shopping! A friend of mine was having a Tea Party Bridal Shower and I needed to find a hat and dress! So off we went and found a lovely pink and white floral dress and a strawish pink hat with a lovely flower on the side. I loved it. He loved it and it was only the 12th or so dress I tried on! I did however have one of those short people problem moments - I found This Dress at JCPenny. And I loved it. It fit beautifully on the top, the material was soft and moved so nicely as I walked around... But I'm 5'2. It was clearly made for a woman at least 5 inches taller than I am. Otherwise I'd have to walk around holding up the dress to ensure that I don't fall over. And that's wearing heels. I also found one by Calvin Klein - same problem. Super soft, comfy, gorgeous, but not made for short girls!!! I know I can get them altered but I hate cutting off the designs on the bottom of the dress. So I will only alter dresses when it won't interrupt the beauty of the dress. We then had dinner at Bobby Flay's Burger Palace. Honestly one of the most delicious burgers I've ever had - The Dallas Burger - a spice crusted bbq burger - the spice crust seasoning was SO good I wanted to buy some on the spot and try it at home! In fact, I think next time we are in the area I just might have to do that! I highly recommend it if you have one near you! We each had a milk shake and fries - we tried both the regular and the sweet potato - both were great and crunchy - which I don't find easy with sweet potato fries!  And everything was perfectly portioned. When we finished neither of us felt that super stuffed need to lie down feeling but we both were full and satisfied. Plans to meet up with friends fell through so we went home and had a catch up on tv night!
On Sunday I tackled my curls and straightened them out so I could wear my lovely new hat and not look crazy at the Shower! I've been trying to use much less heat on my hair so I've been wearing it curly but it really didn't look right with the hat. Perhaps when it's longer...I wish I had taken a picture - it was pretty cute! The shower was awesome! The ladies who planned it did an amazing job. Lots of little touches. The chef and his sous chef were there and they were super nice and the food was amazing. Lots of finger sandwiches and pastries and delicious veggies! Of course there was tea. And they made a puzzle for the couple - each of us wrote advice or love notes to the couple and it will be framed and given to them as a wedding present. And for the ice breaker game, we each had a name of a famous women placed on our back and we had to ask around to get clues as to who we were. It was really nice. A delicious red velvet cake was served as we gathered for presents and afterward there was a wonderful champagne toast. Not a dry eye in the room. The bride to be toasted her mother and it was really super sweet. Over the years they have been through some MAJOR downs and thankfully some great UPS! And she toasted her Maid of Honor - her best friend since childhood. She said something I think many of us feel - her husband is the love of her life but her BFF is her soul-mate. It is something to have friendships that last through the good, the bad and the ugly and they survive! After the shower Husband didn't want to waste my pretty dress so we went to a french restaurant. It was our first time there and it was just ok. Honestly I think I could have made us a meal with more flavor and certainly better service at home. But it is always good to try new places!
That was our weekend! I'm enjoying a quiet and rainy Monday. Only need to do some light grocery shopping today so hopefully the rain lets up soon!

Happy Monday people!
