Good Reads

I am currently reading book 3 in the Yada Yada Prayer Group series by Neta Jackson. I had heard of them a while back and accidentally stumbled upon one of the spin off books and now I'm hooked. I love reading books where the characters could very easily be me or anyone of us. For example, one of the ladies in this series - Jody- is a wonderful loving person. She loves God and is wanting to lead a life that is pleasing to Him. She also struggles with trusting God and believing that HE is in fact in control. When bad things happen she doesn't immediately turn to God. But she does eventually and she learns a bit more her God, herself and her family as she moves through the good and bad times. She learns how to truly open her eyes to the world around her. She also struggles with trying to be perfect, and with jealousy of her friend and with cultural differences (and assumptions she holds about different cultures) within her new group. She is watching her children grow into a young man and woman and see how her life and mothering have influenced then. I once heard someone say parents looking at their children are looking at mirrors of their parenting. Don't know who said that or if I'm even getting it right. But it makes sense. I'm sure there are more than a few instances where this doesn't apply but for the purposes of the book I believe it does.
I also picked up Last Child In The Woods: Saving our children from nature -deficit disorder. Haven't read it yet. I'm hoping its good. There were only a few bad review on Amazon so i'm thinking it'll be good. Fingers crossed.
