Senseless Violence

I can't stop crying. I don't have children, I can't begin to imagine what the families in Conn. are going through right now. And yet I can't stop crying. My heart hurts for these children who watched their friends and classmates die. The parents who arrived at the fire station and their children weren't there. The teachers, and principals and counselors. How do you begin to explain to your child what happened? Many of these children are so young that they may not even realize what happened. Their parents will have to have some incredibly tough conversations in the coming days. I have so much to say and so many feelings.
Gun control measures probably wouldn't be much help although I know many people will jump up to say that we need better laws. The problem with laws is that people will break them. I don't know what we can do. I do know that we can pray for them. And pray for our country as a whole.

Heavenly Father,
Please be with the families of those involved in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. You know the names of each person shot and killed. You know the extent of the injuries, physical, mental, and emotional. Only you Lord can guide and help them make it to the other side of the grief they are now dealing with. There are emotions I can not begin to understand. Lord, I ask that you wrap your arms around them. And Lord I pray for the families of the shooter(s?) We often forget that they also have lost someone they loved. Amen
