Getting Rid of Weight

Dieting sucks. Removing foods you like from the diet suck. I feel like I'm constantly hungry but unless I cook myself full meals there isn't much to eat. No carbs = no sandwiches, no pasta. So I've got Tuna made but can't eat it w/ bread or crackers. I like Tuna, I can even eat it straight out of the can but I prefer it with crackers or bread in order to stop me from eating a ton of it. The bread/crackers help fill ya up. Without it I'm sure I'm eating way to much of it and to much of a good thing is still too much!
Years ago when I needed to drop about 10lbs quickly and safely for work. I had this trainer and he put me on a Tuna diet. I ate Tuna (with eggs, mayo, relish) on 100% wheat bread. And I was allowed 3 cheat meals for the week (think chicken salad with a teeny bit of dressing). And I could eat as much Tuna on bread as I wanted. And as a special treat, 1 little juice box a day. I would savor my little juice box! I drank lots of water and took a multi-vitamin. I worked out twice a day 4 of the 7 days and 3x on the other days - those three days I did my home workout AND spent a quality couple of hours with my trainer - QUALITY was the key. He's an ex football player and he trained me like I was heading to the combine. There was lots of running, hopping up hills and running back down, push ups, situps, squats and lunges, and jogging a couple of miles at the start of each workout. Guess what folks - you absolutely do NOT need a bunch of fancy equipment to get in shape! All we needed was some room! And my backyard was tiny but that's what parks are for. Then there was my least favorite workout ever. If you need a good workout at home, grab a deck of cards and if you saw Live! With Kelly and Michael this morning you know where I'm going with this! Assign each symbol an exercise - Diamonds = diamond push-ups, hearts = burpees, spades = sit-ups/crunches, and clubs = jumping jacks. Ace is good for 11 and face cards are 10 and the other numbers are what they are! If you leave the jokers in, make them wild cards - dance to your favorite song or jump rope for 30 seconds. I weighed in at the beginning of the week and before the end of the week, I was down 10lbs. By day 7 I was down 12lbs. Yes a lot of it was water weight, but I kept it off even after going back to eating like a normal person! I continued doing my two a day workouts. Roughly 20 min in the morning, and again in the evening. The workout was very simple but very effective. And I kept it up as I began the new job. And kept the weight off and then some! And then I got myself fired from the job (that's for another post) And thus began a new chapter in life, working a desk job. 8 hours a day (sometimes more) sitting behind a counter. And on then I injured my knee - completely dislocated it and spent the following 6 weeks on the couch - even worse than behind the desk. Talk about packing on the pounds! I very easily gained about 15 lbs. Sitting there day after day, my roommate was kind enough to take good care of me and even let me drive his car once I was no longer on pain meds! I went back to that desk job on crutches and continued gaining weight. By the time my knee was well enough for activity it was almost 3 months later and I was about 30lbs heavier. I made it to my highest weight - 182lbs. That was around 2008. And here we are 5 years later and I'm down to 162. I've gained and lost the same 20lbs in the last 5 years. And I refuse to say the same thing 5 more years from now. I want to be healthy, for me, my husband, and the children we hope to have one day. My body is a Temple and its past time for me to treat it like it! (and this is long enough not so I'm gonna stop here)

XOXO
