So Friday was pretty uneventful. The family I work with took the older kid to Six Flags for the afternoon so I stayed home with the baby and we just hung out. One thing about babies that some people don't realize - for the first year, they really don't need much more than a play mat (especially if you have hard floors), some chew toys, and someone to play with them. This little guy thinks he can walk. And of course he can...with a LOT of assistance :-) He loves to grab your hands and bounce or take steps. It kinda looks like he's dancing badly. And on Saturday it was a fairly quiet day. We got our workouts in and relaxed most of the day. And then we went to Bengies Drive-in to catch a triple feature! If you've never been to a drive in, it is something I highly recommend. It rained for probably a total of 30 min just not all at once. It was off and on during the first film which was Despicable Me 2 - EXCELLENT movie! Sadly that was also the time that Hubby went to the snack bar. Our hot food and drinks made it back to the truck just fine... my popcorn, not so much. The cost? Glad you asked. $9 each ($10 extra if you bring ANY outside food or beverages including water from home) Concession stand prices were reasonable and the food was tasty. Tips - bring comfy lawn chairs and sit in front of or beside your vehicle. Bring an umbrella :-) bring bug spray! (or the new clip on stuff) Mosquitos LOVE me so I made sure to grab the Off as we walked out the door and despite the fact that it was a bit warm, I wore jeans, crew socks and a light but long sleeve shirt AND sprayed myself with off - Hubby wore shorts and flip flops and used some off but still the mosquitos got his ankles! And follow the rules. There are LOTS of them but they all make sense and in 57 years if business this place has learned what makes for the best experience for the majority of people. Only thing I would have liked was a smoking section. So that the people who feel the need to try and kill me with their smoke can instead be lumped together and a little away from the non smokers...
As for the movies:
First up was Despicable Me 2 - As I said before it was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I now would like to see the first one. It's a kid movie that everyone can enjoy.
Movie 2 was R.I.P.D. Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, and Mary Louise Parker - Don't waste your money - there are only a few not terrible moments and if you've seen any of the previews or clips as they've been doing press interviews, you've seen the best. Ryan Reynolds dies and instead of going to Heaven or Hell, he has the chance to redeem himself by becoming a member of the Rest In Peace Department which is tasked with finding the dead people on earth who have figured out how to stay there. (sound interesting yet?) Anyways, we were not impressed and had this been the 3rd and final movie, we would not have stayed past the first 20 min. Alas, there was one movie left so we suffered through R.I.P.D.
And move 3 - This Is The End. A lot of funny moments. All the actors are playing a version of themselves. Seth Rogen, James Franco, Emma Watson, Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill and Jay Baruchel are the main characters. They are at this Hollywood party at James Franco's house when the Apocalypse begins. And some would say hilarity ensued... I will say there were moments I couldn't believe we were watching that crap and there were some serious laugh out loud moments. It's clear these guys are probably real life friends and had a great time with this. And many people watching will also have a great time watching. I'm don't want to spoil it by telling you who does and does not get into heaven... But if you watch it, and you were born in the 80's you might really enjoy the ending!
Sunday was a very lazy day. The last movie ended around 3am we got home around 345 and it was time for bed! We didn't wake up until noon and to be honest, I could have slept longer but I was starving!! Thankfully I had made some tasty homemade Hamburger Helper on Saturday so we heated that up and relaxed the rest of the day. We had a delicious dinner at Eggspectation. Normally we go for brunch but we found a groupon that was to be used after 3pm so we gave dinner a try. Delish!
So that was our weekend. We had a great time and I hope you did as well! When you work all week it really is nice to be able to enjoy the time off!
