Workout Wednesday!

So Husband joined me for 6 week 6 pack on Saturday. He thought it was a pretty good workout overall. His obliques were even a little sore the next day! And he did it after doing the Insanity Recovery workout so he got quite the workout for the day. We did level one and he's going to do level 2 with me later this week! I don't think he thought it would be at all challenging. For some reason men think that the workouts women do at home are just super easy. They see the women on the screen usually using 3-5 lb dumbbells and assume it's a cake walk. What they don't realize until they do the workouts is that often we are doing TONS of reps. And if we used 20 lb weights for all those reps, our arms would probably fall off! The workouts are structured in a way that as the 3-5 lb weights become too easy, just up the weights to make it more challenging! And with Jillian's workouts, there is also a LOT of cardio to go with the weights. I think it surprised him a little bit how much cardio there was considering it is an Abs workout! This week (starting today) I bump it up to level 2. I am excited. Jillian promises that for Ripped in 30 we won't repeat the same exercises as the weeks progress. I didn't take a before pic or my measurements when I started (probably should have) so I'm just gauging my progress by my ability to do more each workout. And by using heavier weights when the 5 lbs are just a bit too light. I won't go higher than 10 because I don't think for these workouts heavier is necessarily better. High reps at a lower weight will get me the toning I'm looking for. And my yoga has done wonders for my breathing while working out! It's amazing the difference that proper breathing has done for me. I really wish I had been more focused on my breathing in the past. It feels better and helps me to be able to finish my workouts strong. I'm still struggling with that darn side plank w/knee cross. I just can not figure out how to keep my body up on the one leg and arm without falling.I think I just need to figure out how to engage my core completely to hold myself up maybe? I'm not sure but I'm determined to get it in the next week!
In honor of Hump Day, I'd like to leave you with my new favorite commercial!
Happy Wednesday!
