Day 2

Hello! Welcome to Day 2 of 31 Days of Prayer. I went to visit 31 Dayers and there are over 1000 other bloggers participating! How awesome is that? 31 Days to EVERYTHING! It would take me months to get through them all but I have visited some amazing sites. Over the weekend I'll add the links to a few of my favorites! There are a few 31 Days of Pinterest and as a Pinterest addict I am eager to see some of the pins in action. I haven't tried any of the crafts yet but I've done a few recipies and will blog about those in another post.
On to Day 2!

Where should I pray?
The easy answer to that is ANYWHERE! You can pray when you're in the car, on the bus, sitting at your desk at work or school. You can pray at home or church. This is one thing you can literally do anywhere you are in the world! In some religions people build small (or large depending on space) alters in their homes and pray in that spot/room. Now I'm not familiar with other religions but most Christians I know don't build alters in their homes. Though some do and the ones I've seen are beautiful peaceful spaces. But it certainly is NOT a necessity.

Is there a set amount of time?
On Day 1 I mentioned the Deacons in my church praying for what felt like hours during the devotional part of the service. When I moved to Nashville, my Pastor there said if you have to pray in public for hours on end perhaps you aren't praying enough in private. And I'll say this about it. Your prayer time is is yours and yours alone. It's a time for you to go to your Heavenly Father and converse about whatever it is you feel led to discuss with Him. No one can tell you how long it should or shouldn't take. If you are doing a specific prayer for our Military for example in addition to your regular prayer time it may take a little longer. And that's perfectly fine. The purpose of Prayer is to Spend time with God. He simply wants you to MAKE the time to talk to Him.

Bible Verses
Matthew 6:5-15. This includes the prayer we know today as "The Lord's Prayer"
I was taught that there would be times when I would know what to say. And if I didn't know what to say to say "The Lord's Prayer" This was another prayer that was learned as a child and has stayed with me.

I must say. I'm not really sure of the best way to present all of this. I want to keep each post short and to the point and frankly that's a little out of my nature as I tend to be long-winded! I appreciate your patience with me as I learn what works and what doesn't.
See you for Day 3
