Day 7

THANKS!

One time of year you hear people talk about giving thanks is clearly Thanksgiving. A holiday that I don't like the origins of but I do like the idea of taking time to specifically give thanks. (a whole post about that next month)
But when God has given us SO much, we should make it a point to give Him thanks frequently. Not only  on a day we set aside once a year. If you woke up this morning, regardless of the crap that has happened, is happening and will happen in the future, you have a reason to be thankful. Are there bad things that happen? YES! Jobs are lost, people get sick and people will die. Friendships and relationships will end and times will be tough. The economy will suck and making ends meet will become as impossible as finishing a marathon when you've had no training. Parents will lose children, children will lose parents. There are things that will happen and you really won't know what to do or why its happening. There's no way to fix it. So what do you do? Focus on the things you do have. Sometimes its difficult I know it is. But when we dwell on the bad it makes it tougher for us to see the good in life. I want to be clear, it is perfectly fine to acknowledge the bad things in life. In fact, ignoring it will NOT make it go away but neither will dwelling on it. Pray and be thankful for what you do have. For what is good. Even if they only thing you can do is recite the prayer posted above that's a good way to start your day. You can thank God for the good things as they come to you. And it doesn't have to be a long prayer. You can simply say, thank you God for all I have. Or you can be specific - thank you God for my husband, kids, job, food in the fridge, warm blankets, electricity, the sun shining outside my window, the rain that's making everything grow anything you can think of. Just take a moment to THANK GOD for something.
One of my favorite songs giving thanks!
Enjoy the words! It's so true - we don't always give him our best but he isn't less faithful to us! Talk about a reason to be thankful!
