Weekend Roundup!

I figured out why they start tailgating so early - they have to get the food going! (duh!!) LOL We had a great time! It was my first non HBCU game. The stadium was huge. But not big enough, apparently when they play Penn State they have to play at the Ravens field in Baltimore. Anyways - the tailgating was fun. It was certainly a beautiful day for football and any outdoor activities! On big game days, they hold tailgate contest. There was a group next to us that had 5 parking spots and one of them was for their bar! They had the makings of a full bar including fruit garnishes, cocktail napkins, and little straws. Oh and they had tube shots! Very tasty (they made too many and I got one!) Next time I'll remember to bring bottled water. They had a couple of large bottles but the cooler mostly had beer. The food was great and true to their maryland roots - just about everything was seasoned with Old Bay!! We will definitely be doing that again! Even if we don't stay for the game, the tailgating was just a fun time. Hubby's friend is an alum and season tkt holder. We had great seats. On the 50 yard line just a few rows up. It was basically a blowout. Maryland played Old Dominion University. Which is new to the conference. When we left during the 4th quarter the score was 48-3. It was fun anyways. ODU had a really good band. And I was tickled when the Maryland band played the TMNT theme song - they are the Terrapins which is a turtle. Their slogan - Fear The Turtle! And the photos -

Thats Testudo the mascot!

On Sunday we met up with some friends from college. Including my 'brother' Brandon and his wife! They won an AT&T contest that brought them to DC for a football classic game this weekend. Their trip included round-trip tickets to DC, a two night stay at the JW Marriott, 4 tickets to the game, a celebrity meet and greet and of course - the opportunity to see us! We met them at their hotel and a few others joined us! It was like a tiny TSU reunion! Then we walked about a mile to Founding Farmers (yes we're trying to get EVERYONE we know to this place!!) stopping at the backside of the White House to check it out and take some pics. (which are on Hubby's phone) Even the back looks beautiful. They knew what they were doing when they designed it. And dinner was great. I love having the chance to reconnect with friends. I'm still floating on a happiness cloud. Though that could be the Benadryl... In addition to have a great weekend, I was eaten alive by mosquitos and of course spending all that time outside made my allergies flare up. So Sunday was all about Benadryl, football, and naps!! We were both pretty tired so we skipped the Kings Dominion trip. I didn't even cook. We had pizza delivered for the first time in months and leftovers. I've been walking around in a drowsy Benadryl induced daze. But I'm starting to feel better and the swelling and itching from the bites is going down. So yay Benadryl!!  All in all a great weekend. No better way to spend it than with good people just enjoying life! I hope your weekend was just as wonderful!
