First up
I can't say enough how much I love these workouts! First I really do like her 3-2-1 format. When I'm feeling like I'm about to fall over, I look at the time and realize that the workout is almost over. I don't think it's a workout for absolute beginners. Even the Level 1 workout is tough. So if you are a beginner, really take your time, focus more on form than keeping up. The recommendation is to do each level for a week and then move on to the next. Again, if you're truly a beginner, take your time. Just because it says Ripped in 30 doesn't mean you'll be ripped in 30 unless you're already in pretty good or at least decent shape. This like other 30/60/90 day programs may take more than 1 cycle to get maximum results. I borrowed the DVD from the Library (which I suggest doing before spending money on something you may not like) so I did not receive the meal plan. I would imagine that the best results would be achieved by following the suggested meal plan. I did make it to Level 4 and I was wiped out! It is not easy but it felt so good to finish that workout. After the 30 days, I felt much stronger and very comfortable with the moves. And I was roughly one jeans size smaller. I have purchased the DVD from Amazon to add to my workout video collection!
Also added to the collection is her Six Week Six Pack!
I really liked this one. And my husband has even taken some of the moves and added them to his ab workouts! This DVD will have you do EVERY possible plank position known to Jillian! I loved that both routines were different and both were tough! I definitely was humbled a bit when trying to do the side planks as I kept falling down. Again - if a move is truly too difficult, do the modified version and work your way up to the more advanced version. Getting hurt does NOT help you get in shape. Now did I have a 6 pack after the 6 weeks? NO! Did I expect it? NO. Again, it's important to have realistic expectations when doing these workouts. If in order to get a 6 pack to show you need to lose the fat around the tummy, you may need to do this for 12 weeks in conjunction with healthy eating habits and cardio workouts. If you already have a flat tummy then I would imagine it would be more likely that with proper eating and cardio work you would be more likely to see a 6 pack. No workout series alone will give you miracle results in 4-6 weeks. It takes time, and hard work. Like Jillian says, abs like the girls in the video don't come for free.
Once my videos get here, I'm going to start with Level one. Only doing them without the modifiers. Until them, I'm focusing on eating well and enjoying working out outside - walking and jogging, while the weather is still really nice. Only a couple of months to go before it gets too cold for me!
Happy Hump Day!
